Penetrex vs Voltaren for Joint Pain
Penetrex and Voltaren are both topical creams used for pain relief, but they contain different active ingredients and have slightly different uses which means each one will work a bit differently for each individual.
Penetrex contains a combination of natural anti-inflammatory and analgesic ingredients such as arnica, MSM, and boswellia serrata, as well as menthol for a cooling effect similar to Tiger Balm.
It is primarily used for the temporary relief of minor aches and pains associated with arthritis, muscle and joint pain, and other similar conditions. This works particularly well on my knees.
Voltaren, on the other hand, contains diclofenac, a nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID). It is used for the relief of pain and inflammation associated with osteoarthritis, rheumatoid arthritis, and other inflammatory conditions. It is also through prescription only in the USA and also comes in pill form.
Both products are applied topically and work by reducing inflammation and pain. However, Voltaren is generally considered to be stronger and more effective for more severe pain and inflammation, while Penetrex is more commonly used for mild to moderate pain.
It’s important to note that both Penetrex and Voltaren can have side effects, and it’s always a good idea to consult with your doctor or pharmacist before using any new medication or topical cream.
